  • Mariners' Adonis Medina: Catches on with Seattle

The Mariners signed Medina to a minor-league contract Monday, per MiLB's transaction log.

Medina spent the entire 2024 regular season with Triple-A Rochester where he posted a 3.76 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 64.2 innings. The 27-year-old right-hander will presumably get a chance to earn a spot in the Mariners' bullpen during spring training.

  • Mariners' Yunior Marte: Inks minor-league deal with Seattle

The Mariners signed Marte (shoulder) to a minor-league contract Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Marte spent the last two seasons with the Phillies' organization, and in 2024 he posted a 6.92 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 26 innings in the majors. Marte was shut down from throwing in mid-September due to a right shoulder injury, but he should be fully healthy for spring training and will look to earn a spot in the Mariners' bullpen for the 2025 season.

  • Mariners' JT Chargois: Designated for assignment

The Mariners designated Chargois for assignment Tuesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

With Austin Shenton joining the organization Tuesday via a trade with the Rays, Chargois will end up as the odd man out of the Mariners' 40-man roster. The 33-year-old was extremely effective out of the bullpen in 2024, posting a 2.23 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 36.1 total innings between Miami and Seattle, so there could be a handful of teams bidding for his services via waivers.

  • Mariners' Austin Shenton: Traded to Seattle

The Rays traded Shenton to the Mariners on Tuesday in exchange for cash, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

After making his MLB debut and appearing in 19 games for the Rays in 2024, Shenton will now reunite with the organization that originally drafted him back in 2019. The 26-year-old infielder slashed .258/.361/.497 with 20 home runs and 65 RBI across 363 minor-league plate appearances last season, and he will likely remain an organizational depth piece upon moving to Seattle. JT Chargois was DFA'd in a corresponding move.

  • Mariners' Casey Lawrence: Sticking with Mariners

The Mariners signed Lawrence to a minor-league contract Friday, per the MLB's transaction log.

Lawrence participated in spring training for the Mariners this past March, and he'll likely do so again after agreeing to yet another minor-league deal with Seattle. The 37-year-old right-hander spent the entire 2024 regular season with Triple-A Tacoma, registering an 11-11 record over 29 starts with a 5.95 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 108:48 K:BB over 165 innings.

The Mariners selected Castano's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

He's now protected from the Rule 5 Draft. Castano, 26, held a 4.38 ERA and 108:43 K:BB over 125.1 innings between Double-A Arkansas and Tacoma this season.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Undergoes knee surgery

Polanco underwent surgery Thursday to repair the patellar tendon in his left knee, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Polanco had a career-worst .651 OPS in 2024 while playing through the knee issue, and he's now getting the injury addressed. The second baseman is expected to be ready for spring training, but it remains to be seen which uniform he will be donning in 2025 as the Mariners weigh a $12 million club option or $750,000 buyout.
